This is awesome!
I miss you guys so much! Jeff is such a trooper with his van! That picture reminded me of one of my recent adventures.....

I haven't posted picks yet, but when I got down to the Valley, I had to buy a mattress. Knowing I wouldn't need it long (and can't take it back), I found a great deal on QUEEN at a local matress store...so...how do you get a queen matress home in a civic?

you tie it to the roof of your car...of course

but wait! you have to close to doors and tie the doors shut too....ok..no problem I'm a mildly flexible 21 year old female, capable of entering the car through the open window...great

but wait! I traveled with my dad.....so he did the same! What a trooper!

lol

I see you are taking care of our room nicely!

Hugs,
Melina

cool!
i am in awe of your wood skillz. the closest i got to a building project was the giant room dividers we made to create a bike room in our oddly sized apartment. my involvement was mostly limited to going around the edges with a staple gun to attach the grey fabric on.

Wow.

That is very impressive. And certainly much more creative than my plan to sleep on a mattress on the floor for four months starting in September.

It's 11 inches from the bottom of the 2x8s to the floor. I thought about measuring a specific storage container, but the only ones I have are very large totes, so my methodology instead was to simply measure another bed and calibrate the height of the sleeping surface accordingly. (The legs are 18" long, and the mattress sticks up another few inches on top of that.)

I've had some interesting feedback on this—I'll probably be making a few changes in the next couple weeks, and posting a followup report.

You know, normally when people say they have to make their bed this isn't what they mean...

Looks quite nice, how much storage room do you have under it? Did you size it to some standard container height?
