3. This is exactly what I need….if it can work! I am not sure if this is a browser issue, or maybe permissions, or ???.

   Example:
   (+) General (-) , Other (-)

   In this example, I would assume that to remove it from General, and leave it in Other, I’d click the (-) next to General. But that removes all category references — so it just reads (+) and nothing else. This makes me think it’s been completely un-categorized. But if I reload or come back to the page later, it’s back to how it was, in two categories: General and Other.

   In a nutshell, I can’t make any changes, and the apparent changes are much too extreme.

   I’ve got Moz Firefox 1.5.0.4. And I”m logged in as admin. Any ideas?

5. Hey Mike, great idea for a plugin, but it would appear that I have the same problem as Kalico. Perhaps you can post a fix for this if you’ve sorted it out?

7. I seem to be having a problem with it. Despite having several categories, when I click the + link I only see Uncategorized. Using WP 2.0.4

8. Ah, seems to be a problem with refreshing. I had deactivated the plugin after having no luck with it, but I just reactivated it and recently added categories now show up in the selection list. However I immediately added more categories and they weren’t showing up right away… I re-activated the plugin but that didn’t update it.

9. Greets! I’ve been using WP-Cats, and it’s helped me start getting in the process of retoactively categorizing my 1000+ posts ever since I moved to WordPress. I’d like to say THANK YOU GRACIOUSLY!

   Is there any way to sort the categories list alphabetically? Currently it displays it in ID order, it seems, and it’s getting more difficult to locate the right category in the list as my list grows larger!

10. Torley: If you want them sorted a particular way, you can find the two instances of “wp_list_cats(’hide_empty=false’);” and change each to be “wp_list_cats(’sort_column=name&hide_empty=false’);”

    I’ve had a number of requests (by email) for these kinds of simple changes; I may add a config panel sometime before 1.0 of this, to provide for such options.

19. Apart from the fact that I cannot sort ALL my posts by category (have to do it by month), this is THE perfect category plugin!

    I’ve got blog posts dating back to 1999, and over the years I moved my blog around, from weblogs.com (Manila) to Blogger, to Moveable Type, back to Blogger and finally to Wordpress (where I’ve been for 3 years), you can imagine my nightmare of 3 years worth of imported posts without categories. So now I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and categorize the blessed things!

21. Hi,

    First of all I would like to say – this plug-in is great!
    (and now for the obligatory) B U T, there seems to be no quick way to add another category, only change an existing one e.g.

    One post has the category ‘photography’, I would like to add the category ‘artistic’ to the existing ‘photography’ category so this post would fall under both categories ‘artistic’ and ‘photography’. Currently I can only change at a time so I can have either ‘photography’ or ‘artistic’.

    I am using a Mac osx 10.4.8 with Firefox 2

    I have just found the way to do this. If you have only one category and you wish to add to it, you can press the ‘apple’ key (or perhaps any key) and you seem to be able to add multiple categories to a singular post forever… strange.

    Sorry if this is intentional, or it has been discussed already.

25. Mike,

    I’ve been using wp-cats, and I must, it’s a very handy workout. However, recently, I started facing problem, I’ve opened 3 new categories, and when I go to post management to add the newely created category, wp-cats doesn’t show these categories.

    Can you advice me what could be the problem?

    Note: I’ve quite long list of categories.

27. Hi. I’ve got wp-cats working on my WordPress 2.1.3 blog (in English) but cannot get it to work on a WordPress 2.1.1 blog (in Spanish).

    Is there some text that needs to be changed in order for the plug-in to work on a non-english admin page?

28. Ok, I fixed the issue by manually editing the plugin file… apparently something’s wrong in my localization file.

    One more thing… I’m only seeing categories with assigned posts in the pop-up list.

29. this plugin looks like it could be sooooo helpful! but i can only see 15 categories (one column).
    any edits?? i tried deepak’s edit and that didn’t help. using wp 2.2.1.

33. Yes Mike, please please make it work for WP 2.3. I have many posts posted daily into WP via RSS and I have to add the relevant Categories to them after they are posted so I urgently need this superb ajax plugin to work for 2.3. I just don’t have the time to manually edit each post to add new categories. I have also send you an email. Thanks and awaiting your reply.

35. Thanks so much Mike. There seems to be a strange bug. When I click the minus button for deleting a Category, all +/- buttons disappear under the Category column for the Categories and a plus button appears on the left of the post title column and the Category does not get deleted. While adding a Category with the plus button, the Category gets added but the buttons disappear and again a plus button appears under the post title column in Manage -> Posts. Please fix these bugs because the Category delete is not working at all. Thanks again.

38. Many thanks for this – I’ve been looking for something to ease managing categories for ages, and this makes things much simpler. All I need now is a system that can replace selected categories with other or new categories.

39. Unfortunately with WordPress 2.5 the plugin didn’t work. Are you planning to do an update for the new WordPress version.

    I love this plugin and now as I am changing my blog I have do change a lot of catagories and it will be helpfull to do this with WP-Cats.

41. Hi! Great plugin – but I’m getting a “bad category number” error when I try to use it after upgrading to 2.3.3 (still haven’t made the jump to 2.5). Is that something you’ve seen before?
