My familiarity with Nancy Drew is limited to Wikipedia and the mounds of references elsewhere in pop culture. So perhaps it's unfair to draw a comparison when I'm not fully educated.

Nonetheless, it seems clear that *Drew* is based around tea party scandals more than any sort of real crimes that seriously impact the lives of the characters. The brilliance of *Mars* is how, in solving other peoples problems, she gradually assembles enough pieces of the puzzle to reconstruct the two crimes that destroyed her old life: her friend's murder and her own rape. Some of the week-to-week mysteries are better than others, but the finale is just amazing.

Mike - you like this show so much, you obviously forgot to mention something in comparing it to Nancy Drew: the lack of awfulness.
